Name: Eva
Job: Quality Improvement Engineer
What does a Quality Improvement Engineer do at Quooker?
I am responsible for the overall quality of our products, with a specific focus on our sparkling and chilled product. My goal is to ensure the highest quality output from our production line, while also addressing all customer-related issues.
Here’s what a day in Eva's life looks like!
8-9AM:
I start my day by checking my calendar and making myself a nice cup of tea. Every Monday at 9:00 AM, we have a meeting at the production line to discuss the plans for the upcoming week. My schedule looks different every day — some days are packed with meetings, while others are more focused on analysis work.
9-10AM:
I have a meeting about a field test we’re planning to run. This means we’re introducing a change to the product, but before rolling it out fully, we test it in the field. In this meeting, we go through all the details and try to identify and eliminate any potential risks.
10-11AM:
During this hour, I work on analyzing a test we’re running in production. I check which parameters we’re testing at each step and make sure everything is being properly tracked. I'm also working on improving the rejection reasons that come up during production, so they can be resolved more efficiently on the line by our operators.
11AM-12PM:
Next, I have a meeting about a specific customer issue. I meet with the relevant stakeholders — in this case R&D and SQA — to discuss the current status and the remaining to-do’s. This is a weekly meeting to ensure we solve the issue as quickly as possible.
12-1PM:
Lunch time with colleagues! On Thursdays we often head into the local area to grab something tasty, but our cafeteria is also great — with fresh sandwiches, soup, and a salad bar available every day.
1-2PM:
To fight the post-lunch dip, I grab a coffee. Then we have a meeting about product tracking in the field. We’re currently doing this analysis through a platform, and we’re brainstorming how we can improve it — for example, adjusting graphs and data displays.
2-3PM:
This time is for clearing my inbox and Teams messages and handling various tasks that have come up during the day — like approving R&D drawings, preparing for upcoming meetings, or making decisions about production issues.
3-4PM:
I have two meetings in this hour. Since I focus on sparkling and still water, I’m also involved with our CO₂ line — at Quooker, we fill our own CO₂ bottles. I attend a meeting about how we want to track these bottles in the field.
After that, I join a session about a new product that R&D is working on, where I provide input from a quality perspective on what I’d like to see in the design.
4-5PM:
Almost the end of the day! I finish up my remaining tasks, tidy up my desk and mugs, and prepare for the next day so I can start fresh in the morning.
5-6PM:
Time to head home. I shut down my laptop and hop on my bike — a ride I really enjoy clearing my head after a busy day.
How do you unwind at the end of the day?
At the end of the day, I clear my mailbox and Teams messages. I also take a moment to plan the next day and write everything down, so it’s out of my head. After that, I cycle home — something I really enjoy doing to clear my mind at the end of the day.
What do you love about your job and your employer?
I really enjoy combining data analysis with understanding the product on a technical level, while also involving different departments within Quooker. It gives me the chance to use my technical skills and at the same time work closely with people from various teams. By working together with different departments, you get a better overall view of the problem and can make sure everyone’s perspective is included.
