Day in the Life: Simone, AI Consultant at Henkel

Meet Simone, an AI Consultant at Henkel, who helps teams unlock the power of generative AI across the company. Her days blend strategy, creativity, and collaboration. From leading pilot projects and inspiring colleagues in training sessions to sharing ideas over coffee and wrapping up with a walk along the Rhine.

Name: Simone
Job: AI Consultant

What does an AI Consultant do at Henkel?

I am driving GenAI Adoption at Henkel through various initiatives ranging from consulting our business units on AI use cases and possible solutions, the execution of pilot and global rollout programs or speaking in global info and training sessions.   I am empowering teams across the organization to turn AI potential into practical impact through hands-on enablement, engaging formats, and scalable learning formats.

Here’s what a day in Simone's life looks like!

8-9 AM:
I usually arrive at the office around 8:20 or 8:25, just in time for my project stand-up at 8:30. It’s a quick sync with my managers to keep them updated on the latest project developments.

9-10 AM:
In the morning, you’ll often find me at one of our coffee bars. I like working in these casual spaces as they help me focus and spark creativity. It’s the perfect spot for my first coffee and a small breakfast while I check emails and get ready for the day.

10-11 AM:
After a 15-minute sync with the tech team on one of our GenAI projects at 10 AM, I review my speaker notes for the 11AM presentation and prepare for an alignment meeting with my managers later in the day.

11 AM-12 PM:
One of today's highlights was stepping onto the stage at the Henkel Consumer Brands Germany town hall to talk about my favorite topic - how we’re bringing AI into our daily work. In my work, I run a lot of sessions to promote GenAI at Henkel, shape the right mindset and inspire people to use it.

12-1PM:
No proper lunch for me today—sometimes I skip (not my best habit, but the reality). More often, though, I’ll have a lunch date or go out with my team. One thing I love about the Henkel office is the great food and the open culture. Asking anyone to lunch is totally normal, and it’s led to some great connections and collaborations so far.

1-2 PM:
Early afternoon, I kick off our new pilot evaluation that's aiming to test new features for recording and transcribing meetings in a GDPR-compliant way with 60 colleagues. Everyone’s looking forward to this feature, so the motivation and spirit are high. Afterwards, I go for a coffee with a colleague from my team. I find those casual conversations, especially with key stakeholders, are almost as important as formal meetings.

2-3 PM:
It's time to meet with a business stakeholder from Infrastructure Services to discuss what we're doing with AI Agents and how to move forward together. I also use this time to catch up on emails, get some work done, and do final tweaks to the slide for my 3:30 PM call.

3-4 PM:
My 3 PM call is about brainstorming ways to get more people using GenAI and coming up with additional concrete initiatives with our Henkel dx digital transformation team. Afterwards, I meet my managers to align and prepare the project update I'll share with our IT executives in the upcoming week.

4-5 PM:
Mondays at 4 PM mean a weekly call with one of our solution providers to get the latest updates and sort out any open questions. Then, the last meeting of the day is with our Purchasing colleagues from Henkel Adhesive Technologies, exploring how generative AI can enhance an existing IT solution.

5-6 PM:
I wrap up the day by following up on Teams messages and emails, and finishing up anything that's needed for the next day.

How do you unwind at the end of the day?
My favorite way to unwind is taking a walk or run along the Rhine, ideally with a beautiful sunset and friends to chat with.

What do you love about your job and your employer?
I love that I can shape my own path, work flexibly, and bring my ideas to life with real ownership. Every day I get to exchange ideas with inspiring, motivated colleagues and dive into new technologies. No day looks the same, and I always find opportunities to challenge myself, learn something new and grow. Henkel has been a great employer so far and noting down all the benefits I appreciate would be too much at this point.
