How she found HerFuture

Zoe moved to the Netherlands in 2024 for a second master's in Data Science at Tilburg University. She'd heard IT was one of the more in-demand fields for internationals, and it turned out to be the right call. She discovered HerFuture soon after arriving, and her very first event was a session hosted by Booking.com, where she met other women in tech and got a feel for Dutch working culture.

The connection

Zoe met her now-manager, Melissa, at the HerFuture Grand Summit in 2025. She was seated at Melissa's table during the dinner portion and got to talking with her and other Robeco colleagues at the table. At the start of this year, she noticed Melissa was hiring on LinkedIn and reached out: that first Summit conversation turned into an interview, and an interview turned into an offer. The power of networking!

Her role today

Zoe works on Robeco's business insight center team, on the reporting services side, bridging business and technology for stakeholders across finance. She uses SQL and BI tools, with room to explore new tech like Airflow and Snowflake. What she loves most is that it's not just heads-down work: she gets to translate complex investment strategy into clear, actionable insights for real people. Her team is international and doesn't require Dutch, and she's found herself surrounded by female leadership, something she describes as approachable and supportive.

Her advice

Zoe's advice is simple: get involved with HerFuture and go to as many events as you can: not just to reach out to companies, but to network with other women in IT too. Some of the girls she met at her very first HerFuture event are still close friends today. And second: networking matters everywhere, not just in one country, but in every career, everywhere.
