What does a Data/BI Specialist do at Quooker?

I focus on solving integral problems across the organization by optimising data governance, ensuring data quality and providing insightful analytics through effective dashboarding.

Here’s what a day in Nikki's life looks like!

8-9AM:
I usually carpool to the office with colleagues or I commute. When I arrive at the office, I start my morning with a nice cup of tea while checking my agenda for the day and my emails. I like going to the office, because you can easily chat and meet with your colleagues. We have a week that we can work from home, but I prefer working in the office.

9-10AM:
Every day is different; some days are filled with meetings while others have none. Today I have a meeting for project A, where I focus on the data migration that needs to happen. This meeting is about the project management of the whole project and is with 10 people.

10-11AM:
Then i have another meeting where we focusing on the planning and the process of the data migration specifically. Since only my manager and I focus on the data migration, this meeting is only with us two and the project manager.

11AM-12PM:
At 11 I’m following a virtual training of Microsoft about generative AI fundamentals. Quooker provides great opportunities for continuous learning and personal development.

12-1PM:
We have lunch as a department in the cafeteria, which has about 10 people, including business analysts, data/BI specialists, and a process analyst. I never bring my own lunch because Quooker offers delicious sandwiches, soup, and salads at a great price. Today, I opted for mushroom soup and a sandwich with chicken fillet, cream cheese, and cucumber. After lunch, we take a short walk to get some fresh air.

1-2PM:
Meeting time again. This time for a different project where we’re cleaning the suppliers data. I do this project with one other person. This meeting is about which data objects are actually used. There are many extra objects in the systems that aren't utilized.

2-4PM:
After the meeting I work on getting the suppliers data from the database and including only the data objects that are used. I also analyze what is going on with the data, like checking for missing and incorrect data. I love the combination of meeting with people, therefore not only sitting behind my desk, but also doing operational work.

4-5PM:
I have a biweekly meeting with my manager to discuss my progress on both personal and professional levels. We talk about the progress I’ve made and what I’ll be working on next. He’s very supportive and helpful.

5-6PM:
Quooker offers a great vitality program where we can participate in various activities and sports. Every Tuesday, there’s a bootcamp after work, which I love because it allows me to unwind, exercise, and I’m already done with my workout by the time I get home.

How do you unwind at the end of the day?

I enjoy cooking a nice meal and watching a good movie or show.

What do you love about your job and your employer? ‍

I love that I work with data across the company, not just from one application or department. This diversity makes the work interesting, as Quooker has departments ranging from Research & Development to Sales and Marketing. I also appreciate that Quooker is a family company. Despite our growth, we maintain a supportive and friendly atmosphere.
