What does an IT-Auditor Technology Risk do at EY?
My role within EY as an IT-Auditor in the Technology Risk department consists of assessing IT-related risks for financial services organizations. We manage and mitigate IT-related risks, ensuring the security and integrity of their information systems and data are safe as a team.
Here’s what a day in Ozgenur's life looks like!
9-11AM:
Within EY, it’s up to you whether you want to work from home or in the office. We often have office days with the whole team, where we plan together which day best suits everyone’s agenda. Besides that, I personally prefer to go to the office most of the time to catch up with colleagues. Disclaimer: I always start my day with a cup of great coffee! Each Monday, we start our day with a team call, where we discuss our weekly plans. After this call, depending on the week, I have some calls with my clients.
11AM-12PM:
Focus time!
12-1PM:
Lunch time: I usually have lunch with my team in the company’s canteen. Most days, we have a huge table full of my colleagues! Sometimes, we do not even fit at one table and have to split into a specific area of the canteen, where we still stay in contact with each other.
1-4PM:
After lunch, we always grab some coffee with the whole team at our floor’s coffee corner. Here, we usually have a quick catch-up on the different clients we're working on and the tasks we're performing. Then, it's focus time!
4-5PM:
I try to make a clear overview of what I have done for the day and what is still pending for the next day. I wrap up and close the day with a quick chat with my colleagues.
5-6PM:
I leave for home and take some time to focus on my plans for the evening!
How do you unwind at the end of the day?
I unwind by listening to some songs while driving back home and going out with some friends for some drinks, or watch a series at home.
What do you love about your job and your employer?
I love my job because of the variety of work that comes our way. We work with a lot of different clients and portfolios, providing them with different types of assurance. I like being a part of EY because the work that I do really helps and improves the client’s business. EY is an incredible employer that gives you the chance to develop yourself each day and focus on the things you enjoy. For example, I started this year at EY with the master's program in IT Audit, Compliance, and Advisory (ITACA), where I get the chance to dive deeper into the world of IT auditing.
Furthermore, each month we have the Technology Risk event, where we meet with the whole team and review the status of our clients and our achievements as a team. In addition to the weekly planned calls and monthly Technology Risk events, we also have our monthly Power Hours, where a colleague presents a hot topic they are working on or interested in. I love being part of such a great and connected team :)
